Further Information:
Materials I Use: I use only the best materials, made in the USA whenever possible (for almost all parts) or Germany (for the blade steel). The materials I generally use are as follows:
Handles: I generally work with Micarta, G-10, Dymalux (a form of colored, stabilized wood) and various woods. I use all types of Micarta, including linen, canvas, paper, burlap and jute. For G-10, I work with all colors and types, (including Amerigrip with nitrile rubber for added grip). As for Dymalux, I can procure and utilize nearly all available color combinations.
Pins: Pins are one of my favorite ways of giving a knife extra character or special custom significance. I work with nearly all pin materials, including stainless, titanium, copper, brass, colored G-10, and micarta. You will see that many of knives feature at least one blue G-10 pin as a signature. I use corby bolts on all my knives, as this provides an exceptionally tough and durable connection between handle and blade.
Steel: I generally work with AEB-L stainless for ground (stock removal) blades. I have found that it provides a very nice balance of qualities for my customers. It is relatively corrosion resistant, takes a very sharp edge (in fact, it is commonly used for razor blades), and it is easy to sharpen. It works quite well for most applications, including both kitchen and outdoor blades. For forged blades, I can work with most forms of carbon steel.
